8/24/11- We have just learned WPRA 2009 World Champion, Brittany Pozzi was injured in a horse related accident on Wednesday, August 22nd. We believe she was working with a young horse, got bucked off and hit a metal pipe. We understand she has a small fracture to her jaw and lacerations. We wish Brittany a speedy recovery.

7/17/11 With great sadness, we are reporting that WPRA member, Jennifer Dyer's great horse "Fritzy Chex", suddenly passed away on Friday. Please keep Jennifer in your thoughts and prayers during this sad time in her barrel racing career.
7/7/11 We have just learned that WPRA member Tana Renick was injured this past weekend during her run at Eugene, OR. Tana broke her foot and ankle. The Justin Sports Medicine team were quick to be there for her and said she is facing a 6-8 week healing and recovery time. Tana has had quite a winning season this year and we are so sorry to hear this. We wish her speedy recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are out there for her.
7/7/11 Just heard great news about WPRA member Shali Lord. On Friday July 1, she and her husband, Phy had a baby boy. The new family member is named Slade C. Lord and he weighs 8 lb.. 1 oz. and is 19 3/4 inches long. Congratulations and best wishes!!!!
6/27/11 With great sadness, we are reporting that WPRA President Jimmie Munroe lost her father yesterday. Her father, Jim Gibbs was 89 years old and was recovering from surgery. He had just been released from ICU late last week. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jimmie and her family. Funeral services will be held at the Grace Gardens Funeral Home, Waco, Texas. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 29th and the funeral service on Thursday, June 30th at 11:00 AM. Former member, Janice Davis was tragically killed in a plane crash this weekend and former member, Toni Tyree was killed in an undisclosed accident. 2/6/2011- Margo Ransom's great stud Watch Bully Fire was recovering from an eye injury. Her vet was treating him, when suddenly it seems something scared him. As we have been told, he tore his ligaments and severely damaged his leg. The hard decision was made and with great sadness, Margo had him down. 7/8/10- We are sorry for the delay in informing you that tragedy has come to the family of former WPRA member Jean Anderson, Harpersferry, Iowa. Her nephew, Scott Anderson from Seneca, WI was killed in a motorcycle accident on June 3rd. Scott was 34 years old and the father of four children. Please keep Jean in your thoughts and prayers.

4/5/10 We understand 2009 member Suesan Encinas has suffered from multiple surgeries and various health issues recently. In April, she is undergoing further surgery. Due to her current health condition she has decided to donate her mare to the Christian Children’s Home. What a wonderful gesture. Our thoughts and prayers are with her and wish her a speedy recovery. She is looking forward to coming back to the WPRA and competing again soon.

3/1/2010- We just learned Shelly Morgan had to put her good horse Short Go down at San Angelo. We don't have many details but understand the accident did not happen while she was running. We send Shelly our condolences.
3/1/2010- Kenna Squires lost her beloved gelding Fire And Flit on Thursday, February 18, to colitis. While Squires was competing in Kinder, La., a 4-year-old gelding that had remained at her home in Fredonia, Texas, came down with colitis and died. Fire And Flit, who had also stayed in Fredonia, later became ill and died suddenly. A third horse, a 2-year-old, is currently holding his own against the disease...read more

1/24/10- We just learned that member Whitney Baker totaled her rig when leaving Denver this evening. We understand the ground was wet and truck hydro-planed. Whitney is alright but her rig is totaled. She had three horses on board, two horses are bruised and scratched and one is in serious condition. Please keep keep Whitney in your prayers and let's hope her horse will pulls through.
1/7/09- It has been brought to our attention that Boe Kellogg (barrel racer/trainer) and husband of Randa Kellogg , son in law of Traci Newlin (former SEC Director) was recently diagnosed with colon cancer. Boe underwent surgery during the holidays and is now recovering. One can't imagine the financial strain that has been brought upon this family.
