1. What do you do for
a living? Outside of professional barrel racing, I teach 7th and 8th Grade
Language at Heavener Elementary. 2.
What do you enjoy doing outside of riding? I enjoy Reading or going to the
lake. 3. How did you get started in rodeo?
My mother got me started when I was just big enough to sit on a horse; she enjoyed
barrel racing. As I got a little older, I participated in junior and high school
rodeos. 4. What is your horses name?
How old is he or she? Dashers Cowboy Cody, aka Cowboy, a 15 year old gelding.
I purchased him as a 7yr. old from Jane Melby. 5.
How would you describe his/her style? He is more of a free runner. The more
you sit still, the better he works. He has a long stride. A lot of times he wont
look like hes running, but he will surprise you because he stops the clock. 6.
Does he/she have any quirks that make them unique? When I warm him up, he
will kick up. That tells me he is feeling pretty good. Otherwise, he is the best
mannered horse Ive ever had. He doesnt like to get in trouble. 7.
What is your riding regiment during rodeo season? I usually just exercise
him during the busy season. I dont even work barrels unless I need to snap
him up a little. 8. Do you have any superstitions
or quirks when competing? I have a two dollar bill in my billfold for good
luck, and I wont lay my hat on the bed in the trailer. I usually do the
same routine every single time I run as far as getting ready. I try not to change
anything unless what Im doing stops working! 9.
Do you have any hauling partners? I haul with several different barrel racers,
but two that I have been quite a lot with are Susan Smith and Jyme Beth Cochran. 10.
What is your favorite rodeo to compete at? San Antonio, TX. They treat the
contestants very well there. They have very nice hospitality and a lot of prize
money. 11. What is something that people would
be surprised to learn about you? I made all state in three different sports
in high school and played basketball in college instead of competing on the rodeo
team. 12. What is your goal for this rodeo
season? To make the circuit finals and try to make money. Want
