1.
What do you do for a living? Supply
Chain Manager for Cargill Inc.
2. What do you enjoy
doing outside of riding? I have a few
colts that I enjoy training and I spend
a lot of time with my family. I travel a
lot for work, so I don't have time for much
else.
3. How did you get
started in rodeo? I grew up riding with
my mom, Shirley Ankrum and my younger sister,
Timi Lickley. I competed in Jr. and High
School rodeos, 4H, etc. My mom always had
us very involved with horses. Now, we all
compete in the Wilderness Circuit together.
4. What is your horse's
name? How old is he or she? Dashin Madsen,
aka Maddy, is a 13 yr old gelding that I
bought from my mom a year and a half ago.
My mom trained him and hauled him to futurities
as a four year old and qualified for the
Wilderness Circuit Finals on him 3 or 4
times.
5. How would you
describe his/her style? He is a pretty
easy horse, and he runs really hard. My
sister's horse needed some time off this
summer, so she used Maddy the last part
of the season and did well with him.
6. Does he/she have
any quirks that make them unique? He
kicks in the trailer, so I have to hobble
him. Maddy will also reach under the divider
with his front foot and paw the other horse.
He does this on purpose so I have to hobble
his front feet too. He is easy to get along
with though.
7. What is your riding
regiment during rodeo season? I don't
work him on barrels much. I just keep him
legged up. I may pony him off of one of
my colts or use him to pony a colt.
8. Do you have any
superstitions or quirks when competing?
Nope. I believe in fate and that things
happen for a reason.
9. Do you have any
hauling partners? I go with my mom a
lot and Timi sometimes. My husband Jeff
used to rodeo and still ropes, so he goes
when he can.
10. What is your
favorite rodeo to compete at? Pleasant
Grove, UT. The crowd is incredible and the
strawberries are great.
11. What is something
that people would be surprised to learn
about you? Even though I'm outgoing,
I really like my alone time.
12. What is your
goal for this rodeo season? I would
like to futurity some of my colts, make
the circuit finals again, and go to some
bigger rodeos like Pendleton, OR.
