Building Rodeo Barrel Horses

The WPRA’s ProFuturity and ProDerby programs were the brainchild of Futurity Director, Kim Thomas of Oklahoma for the 2006 barrel racing season. "We want to provide an arena for our contestants to train rodeo horses. This gives our members a place to take young horses to introduce them to competition under a more relaxed atmosphere," said Kim. The futurities are open to horses five years old and younger. Derbies are also held for 6 year old horses and seven year old horses if they did not compete in futurities as 4 year olds.
