2016 WRANGLER NATIONAL FINALS
Congratulations to Mary Burger – 2016 WPRA World Champion Barrel racer, and her great horse Mo for winning a total of over $277,000 for the 2016 rodeo year, including $86,000 from her runs at the NFR. Congratulations to Amberleigh Moore, 2016 WPRA Reserve World Champion Barrel racer, who won the most NFR money at over $187,000, and her great mare Paige, who tied the arena record fast time with the 13.57 run she made to win Round 8. Congratulations to Lisa Lockhart on her consistently super great equine partner “Louie”, who set a new arena record for the NFR Average of 137.98 on ten runs, and winning over $67,000 as NFR Average Champ. Lisa’s total NFR money won was over $157, 000, which put her in 3rd place for the 2016 WPRA Barrel Racing Champion standings with total 2016 earnings of nearly $250,000!
And, congratulations to each and every spectacular cowgirl and their equine partners at the 2016 NFR – what a show! We’ve never seen so many incredible runs, almost all in the 13 second range. There were rounds where less than a 10th of a second separated first from sixth place. What an exciting show for the audience, both at home and in the stands in Las Vegas. This is the first year we can truly say the ground was awesome for the barrel race. What a difference from last year; and thanks to all of you who signed the petitions and spoke up for requiring improved ground for this year’s NFR. You were heard; it was done! Thanks to the great ground committee for keeping it fast and safe for all 10 rounds.
Marguerite will be updating the Circuit News within a couple of weeks to let us know what went on at the Board Meetings during the NFR.
