Message to All Top 12 CA Circuit Rodeo Qualifiers

Marguerite Happy

Congratulations! You are among the honored Top 12 CA Circuit rodeo girls who have qualified for the 2015 WPRA CA Circuit Finals in Lancaster at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds October 16th and 17th.

Johnny Zamrzla is our CA Circuit President and has saved our Circuit Finals by producing the CA Circuit Finals under Showdown Rodeo Co. Mr. Zamrzla has asked that we hold our Awards Ceremony in the privacy of my trailer, not front and center to the Rodeo Office. He is graciously purchasing the Year End Saddle and Average Buckle and if you have paid your $100.00 Circuit Dues, you will receive a Circuit Jacket. If you have not paid it, you may buy a Circuit Jacket for $150.00 and you may order it at the Circuit Finals or call the CA Circuit Office 661-449-8498 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Perfs are scheduled for Friday October 16th at 7pm, Saturday October 17th at 1pm and 7pm. They will be approx. 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 hours. Note: there may be fireworks Friday after first perf. It has not yet been determined, but it is a possibility. They plan to have a theme for each performance. The themes for the perfs are expected to be: 1st perf- Patriot Night, 2nd - not sure tbd, 3rd perf- Tough Enough to Wear Pink.

You should have sold your Circuit Raffle Tickets by now. If not, please send the money asap to Kaci Shaffer 3611 Jenkins Rd. Bakersfield, CA 93314, or you can give me the money at the CCF. If your Raffle Ticket stubs and money were not postmarked by September 16th you will owe $50.00 late fee to be eligible for awards. (Total of $170.00)
If you have questions call Kaci at 661-304-5362. As you know, in order to be eligible for WPRA CA Circuit awards at the CCF you must sell and mail your raffle ticket stubs and money to Kaci postmarked September 15th.

The California Circuit Finals Rodeo Committee has worked hard obtaining the sponsors to host our Finals. We will be asked to “mingle” with the sponsors in the VIP Tent prior to the performances two hours prior to each performance. We have also been asked again to sign autographs after the first two performances at a “meet and greet” autograph session at the Van Dam Barn Dance near the Cantina on the other side of the arena. Please make a point to walk over and sign some autographs, mingle and make yourself available for questions.

There is limited parking space and you are welcome to set up portable corrals, however they must be no larger than 12 x 12. Stalls are limited to the first 40 paid reservations, at $40.00, including one bag of shavings. There should be shavings on the grounds to purchase if you need more. Call Sandy Travis at 805-660-9800 to reserve your stall, they must be paid for when you order them. This year there will be a $20.00 grounds fee that will be due if you do not order a stall, and you will need to pay the $20 to the rodeo secretary when you check in.

Our Awards Ceremony will be held at my trailer on Friday October 16th at 2:00 pm and last no longer than one hour. This will be our Circuit Awards Ceremony for all Awards OTHER THAN those which will be given on Saturday evening at the CCF Awards Ceremony for both the PRCA and WPRA awards, following the last performance. You are asked to stay and attend the CCF Awards Ceremony to support our winners and sponsors. You must be there to receive awards! Teda and Tootie Hudson will be making tri tip/pulled pork sandwiches for us at our WPRA CA Circuit Awards ceremony. Water will be provided; bring your own drinks if you want something other than water. If you feel like baking some cookies or something, feel free. I have a sweet tooth! If you are going to be late, please let me know. Gene Hyder will be taking pictures and we always get a group shot and individual shots. It is mandatory to wear WPRA Dress Code for Awards.

We will have our third annual gift exchange during the Circuit Finals Awards Ceremony. I am asking that each of you bring a gift for every qualifier, so we are asking each of you to bring 11 gifts. These gifts do not have to be expensive. If you do not wish to participate please let me know, so I can let the others know not to include those not interested. Past gift to give you some ideas: candy bars, candles, See’s Candy, carved cutting boards, embroidered caps, embroidered bucket hangers, buckets, brushes, product, horse treats, hand towels, lotion, soap, bell boots, Gift Certificates (Starbucks, restaurants, In & Out), frames...use your imagination; that is what makes it so cool.

Check in with rodeo secretary 4:30 to 6:30 on Friday October 16th to sign release forms, get your back number and wrist bands. If you didn’t reserve stalls, you will need to pay the $20 grounds fee when you check in with the rodeo secretary.

There will be a combined PRCA and WPRA Mandatory Circuit Meeting Saturday at 10:00 am located near the Cantina. This meeting is for the Contestants to share their ideas, recommendations and show thanks for our Finals.

We are asking the Members and qualifiers to bring something to share in the Silent Auction. All proceeds will be used toward the WPRA CA Circuit/Divisional Finals. If you are not planning on attending the Divisional Finals it would be appreciated if you bring something to donate for the Silent Auction to the CCF and I will bring it to the Divisional Finals.

I will give you a list of sponsors that I would appreciate you sending thank you notes to. This has been done each year and the sponsors were amazed at how many hand written thank you notes they received and they were willing to help again this year.

If you have any questions please call me. I look forward to seeing you each at the 2015 CCF!
