P.E.S.I. Eligible Progeny Command Top Dollar At MYERS PERFORMANCE HORSE PROSPECT SALE August 22, 2009 / Seven Down Arenas – Spearfish, SD / Press Release by Larry Larson

Spearfish, SD – Just when we feel the economy has us knocked down to the bottom rung an event proves that top performance bloodlines will still bring what they are worth. International interest in the Myers Training Stable Quarter Horses exceeded all expectations on August 22nd when Bill & Deb Myers hosted their annual Performance Horse Prospect Sale near Spearfish, SD. The sale also featured a select group of guest consignors along with the Myers’ primed consignments.

Drawing an extraordinary amount of interest in the months preceding the sale, Guys Famous Girl, a gray two-year-old filly, topped the 2009 offering. Heated bidding ended with her changing hands on a record setting bid of $68,000 from Leo Quintanilla and his daughter Macy from Tilden, Texas. Sired by the Myers’ Leading Barrel Sire Frenchmans Guy, she is out of Disarray, their gray daughter of Leading Sire Dash Ta Fame and the mare Rimes Bouquet, both AAAT runners. Billed as having “all the qualities it takes to be a Superstar’, she will definitely have a bright future. A yearling full brother also caught the eye of the Quintanilla’s – Guys Keepin The Fame left the ring on a bid of $34,000.

Kay Cross Cabaret, again sired by Frenchmans Guy and out of a AA daughter of Cash Treat by Dash For Cash, also drew considerable interest – she made a trip to her new home in Texas with repeat buyer Kathy Donegan and her daughter Lacey from Bluff Dale. They had the bid at $35,000 on the mature, talented two-year-old buckskin filly.

A Special Colour, sired by the Myers $2 Million sire Hot Colours, has a promising future in the hands of WPRA barrel racer Jordon Peterson from Chilton, Texas. Leaving the sale on a bid of $36,000, the bay two-year-old gelding is out of the mare French Wild Heart sired by Frenchmans Guy and out of a AA daughter of Elkman (TB). Peterson and Frenchmans Jester, a record holding son of Frenchmans Guy, currently hold the 9th position in the 2009 WPRA Barrel Racing World Standings with $63,662 won as of August 31st – a promising position for their first appearance at the 2009 NFR in Las Vegas come December.

“This is probably one of the strongest, most consistent and talented set of performance prospects we have ever put together for public auction,” according to Bill Myers. Public reaction definitely proved him right. Full results for this record setting sale can be found on their website www.frenchmansguy.com

*Horses selling in the Myers Performance Horse Prospect Sale who are sired by Frenchmans Guy, Hot Colours and Sadies Frosty Drift are eligible for WPRA Pro Elite Sire Incentive enrollment.
