World Finals P.E.S.I. Bonus Purse Creates New Program Enrollments

The WPRA Pro Elite Sire Incentive picked up several new enrollments over the course of the last month due to the lucrative bonus money being offered at the World Finals, held at Expo Square in Tulsa, OK, November 10-14, 2009. New stallion enrollments included legendary sire Fire Water Flit, Deep Sixum, PC Frosty Bid, Guys Real Deal, Otro Fracaso, Frenchin Ta Fame, Little Famous and Dash Of Royal Gold. The addition of Fire Water Flit and Deep Sixum caused the program to pick up progeny enrollments for Miss JB 055, TM Firefrost Annie, Kans Of Firewater, and Miss Flaming Fire Water, all by Fire Water Flit. Deep Sixum was represented by one new enrollment from his owner, Triple N Ranch, with Heza Grand Sixum. Other new progeny enrollments picked up at the event were Guys Dancetovictory (by Frenchmans Guy), VF Blazing Lights (by Blazing Jetolena), and Chicados Cash (by Cash Not Credit).

Fire Water Flit, his get, and his son's get were the top P.E.S.I. performers from the futurity competition with five of the six bonus money earners tracing to the legendary stallion. His daughter, Miss JB 055, captured first place bonus money of $1,105 with Kassie Mowry in the saddle riding for Owner/Breeder JB Quarter Horses. Super Stakes Slot Futurity Champion Miss JB 055 is one of the top futurity money earners this season, with more than $150,000 to her credit. Stallion money went to Vickie Adams of Firewater Creek Farms who owned and stood Fire Water Flit. Adams decision to enroll the deceased stallion was a courtesy to the many WPRA members who have bred, raised and campaigned his progeny, giving them a chance to grandfather their horses into the P.E.S.I. program now thru December 31, 2010.

Top money in the Derby went to Michelle Stobbe and her quick footed mare, Flaming For Cash, by Cash Not Credit and out of Flittin Flame. Stobbe enrolled her mare this past May at the Barrel Bash in Broken Bow, NE. The duo added $577.50 in P.E.S.I. bonus earnings to their bankroll this week in Tulsa showing speed, athleticism and consistency. Breeder and Stallion Money from Flaming For Cash's performance went to Jud Little Ranch and their Leading Sire Cash Not Credit.

P.E.S.I. Pays Out First Roping Bonus at World Finals

Other Brotha Daryl was the only stallion represented by enrolled progeny in the roping events. Arizona native Jolee Lauteret took home the entire bonus offered in the heading aboard her good horse Beafrayed (by Other Brotha Daryl). Lauteret’s owner’s share of the bonus money amounted to $350, which turned out to be a really nice check considering she and her partner ended up placing 15th in the average that only paid eight places. Lauteret feels getting bonus money into the pockets of ropers will certainly help spur interest in the P.E.S.I. program from the roping contestants. P.E.S.I. plans to mail out a info packet in January to let ropers know the program isn’t just for barrel racing contestants.

WPRA Pro Elite Sire Incentive Makes Big Debut at 2009 NFR

Norman, OK - 2009 will mark the inaugural season for the WPRA's Pro Elite Sire Incentive (PESI) to be represented by enrolled progeny carrying qualifiers to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (NFR). Among the 15 NFR Qualifiers, five ladies gained access to the season finale with the help of their PESI enrolled horses. The PESI bonus could pay out as much $25,000 at the upcoming rodeo with several eligible horses likely to compete there. The program guarantees a $2500 bonus will be paid to any NFR Qualifier who runs their PESI enrolled horse(s) in a minimum of three NFR rounds. After doing so, should any on of them end up claiming the Average win and/or the NFR World Championship, an additional $2500 bonus will be paid.

#1. Brittany Pharr... is going into the NFR this year as the top money earner of the season with total earnings of $155,864.97 and an equine aresenal that includes two top sting mounts. It would be hard to categorize Yeah Hes Firen (by Alive N Firen) as Pharr's back up horse considering his success this past year. The talented palomino gelding showed his stuff this year at such rodeos as Puyallup where he set an arena record and picked up more than $15,000 for the win. His affinity to small pens could certainly prove to be an asset in the Thomas & Mack arena.

#4. Tiffany Fox...while the Oklahoma native didn't run any PESI enrolled horses this past season to earn the $100,235.70 that got her to the NFR she will end up going to Vegas with more than one PESI horse in her trailer. Fox rides for the Jud Little brand, whose lead stallion Cash Not Credit and several of his offspring are enrolled in the PESI program, all of whom have shown they have it what it takes in WPRA competition. According to Little, Des Delight and PESI enrollees Smooth My Credit, Sooner Superstar and Flitin Firin Cash, will be running back up for Fox in her bid for the World Champion title.

#5. Jordan Peterson....Frenchmans Jester (by Frenchmans Guy) was Peterson's number one ride during the 2009 season and clinched fifth place in the standings and the invitation to the NFR by banking $92,048.69 over the course of the season. Peterson and Jester ran tough all season and really hit their stride over the summer and fall. Peterson picked up several big checks with such performances as the win in the second round at Cheyenne, WY that led to 4th in the average there for a $9,000 paycheck, and a second place finish at Puyallup, WA for a little over $13,000.

#7. Sherry Cervi...is holding down seventh position in the standings with $73,528.85 to her credit mounted on two homebred horses, MP Meter My Hay and MP A Man With Roses, both by PC Frenchmans Hayday. By all accounts MP Meter My Hay (a.k.a Sting Ray) is Cervi's primary money earner this year. The duo showed amazing consistency cashing checks from more than 25 rodeos this season including such big events as San Antonio, TX, Houston, TX, and Puyallup, WA, as well as placing in all four rounds/winning Dallas, TX, placing in three rounds and the average at Salinas, CA, and winning Airdrie, AB, Casper, WY, Fergus Falls, MN and Lynden, WA. Cervi will pull PC Frenchmans Hayday (a.k.a. Dinero) out of retirement to assist her in yet another bid for the World Champion title. Should the stallion and any of his progeny run at the NFR, it would be the first time in the history of the event that a stallion and his progeny compete in the same year at the NFR.

#11. Tammy Fischer... Fischer's main mount is out for the count with an ankle injury, which means AQHA World Show Qualifier MP Quick Money (also by PC Frenchmans Hayday) may get a call at the NFR. The handsome grey gelding made appearances at eight rodeos this past season, most recently winning the first go at Dallas, TX, placing third at Texarkana, AR, split third and forth at Amarillo, TX and split first and second at New Braunfels, TX. The pair hit a barrel at Conroe, TX for the win there. Fisher is coming into the NFR in 11th position with $66,840.05 to her credit. A recent turn of events put Cause Heza Bully (by Bully Bullions) in the Texas horsewoman's string. The Nancy Adkins owned gelding has a list of credits a mile long and more than $200,000 in lifetime earnings. P.E.S.I. has contacted Andy Chavers, who owns Bully Bullion, and invited him to enroll the leading barrel stallion in the program.
