Pozzi Wins Denver, Moves to Second in the WPRA NFR Standings

For the third time in her career two-time World Champion barrel racer Brittany Pozzi has won the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo in Denver. This time the Victoria, Texas, cowgirl stopped the clock in 46.05 seconds on three runs to win the average title and $12,391 to move her from 62nd in the WPRA NFR standings to 2nd, with $13,482. Jean Winters of Texline, Texas, who finished second in the WPRA Rookie standings in2009 leads all barrel racer with $15,430 after a fourth place average finish in Denver.

This is Pozzi's second visit to the winner's circle thus far in the 2010 rodeo season. Pozzi shared the win at the Mid-Winter Fair and Rodeo in Lafayette, La., with Jennifer Lynd, which ended on Jan. 17.

2000 WPRA World Champion Barrel Racer Kappy Allen of Austin, Texas won the first round with a time of 15.29 seconds, while Lisa Lockhart of Oelrichs, S.D., turned in the fastest time of the rodeo, 15.23 seconds, to win the second round. Pozzi, who was aboard her main mount Sixth Vision "Stitch" captured the final round victory with a time of 15.33 seconds giving her the overall title.
