Congratulations
to 2008 WPRA World Champion Lindsay Sears for being
the top money earner among all barrel racers during
"Cowboy Christmas" with earnings of $21,459.
Sears, of Nanton, Alberta, not only topped all barrel
racers but finished ranked third among all ProRodeo
contestants behind 11-time PRCA Champion Trevor Brazile
with $24,253 and three-time world champion bareback
rider Bobby Mote with $22,091.
Sears picked up her biggest check
of $13,516 at the Ponoka (Alberta) Stampede. Sears won
the first round with a time of 17.29 seconds, was fourth
in the final round in a time of 17.62 seconds, tied
for first in the average with Sherry Cervi with a two
run time of 34.91 seconds and was second in the four-lady
showdown field after clocking a 17.34-second run.
Lisa Lockhart of Oelrichs, S.D.,
was second among the top barrel racing earners over
the Fourth of July thanks to a $13,492 payday in Ponoka.
Lockhart won the showdown round in a time of 17.19 seconds,
which was worth $5,000.
Sears also picked up money at the
Greeley (Colo.) Stampede and Williams Lake (British
Columbia) Stampede. She added $5,784 in Greeley and
was leading the average heading into the final round.
However, the finals of Ponoka and Greeley were on top
of each other so she had to turnout of Greeley, which
was won by Tana Poppino. Sears placed third in Williams
Lake with a run of 16.73 seconds and pocketed $2,159
to round out her Fourth of July total.
