8/12/11 Once again the format of the Finals will feature $5000 added per event in the breakaway, tie down, heading and heeling with 4 full go rounds and an average paid out. The Finals is open to all WPRA members and no qualification is required. Entries will open Monday, August 29 and close Monday, September 12 and will be taken online and by phone. In Roping, awards will be given to Go-round winners, the Top 5 in the World Standings, Top 5 in the World Finals Average, and Rookie winners in each event. Prizes will include World Champion Saddles and Buckles, Reserve World Champion Awards, Finals Champion Buckles, Exclusive World Finals Jackets to World Standings Top 5, Vests to Average Top 5, Buckles to Rookies along with many other prizes. This year’s Finals will also feature a Bonus Round Saturday Night that will showcase our World Champion, Reserve World Champion and Top 5 in the Average from the Finals in a one-head shoot out for cash. This performance will also feature barrel racing and mutton busting for the Lincoln community to attend and enjoy.

Your event directors, spokeswomen and myself have worked hard to get Top 15 awards sponsored for each event which will be awarded at a Recognition Reception on Thursday afternoon to the Top 15 competitors in each event who have entered the World Finals Event. Circuit Buckles will also be awarded to those winners who are present at the Finals at this time although you do not have to be present to receive your circuit award. This will also be when our mandatory meeting will be held to go over ground rules and answer any competition questions you may have.

Thursday evening will feature our 2012 Kickoff Jackpot and not only give you a chance to earn 2012 championship points but also get a practice run in the arena and watch the cattle go before the Finals competition begins on Friday morning. The jackpot will feature $500 added in breakaway, tie down, heading, heeling and barrel racing and be your first opportunity to earn All-Around points for the 2012 season. Entries for the jackpot will be taken in the Main Office on Thursday and close one hour before the Jackpot is scheduled to begin.

Due to the season cut-off date of September 30th, the office will have to have any challenges/audits to World Standings finalized by October 7th. Given the short time frame we will be working with, please be sure to keep up with your earnings and if you find any discrepancies contact the office as soon as possible to get these issues resolved. After October 7th the standings will be official and no longer open to protest so be sure to stay on top of this.

As a reminder, both 2011 and 2012 members are welcome to compete in Finals events. 2012 members will be eligible for cash prizes and World Finals awards but not World Standings awards, All Around or Rookie prizes. This is a great opportunity to bring a new member to the Finals and let them get a jump start on their 2012 standings and Rookie year.
