Roping Ground Rules

I. 2010 WPRA WORLD FINALS FORMAT GENERAL
A. Rounds
1. 2010 WPRA World Finals Rodeo shall consist of 4 rounds.
B. Entry Fees
1. Tie Down Calf Roping: $310 EF + $100 Stall Fee* + $20 Office Charge**
2. Breakaway Calf Roping: $310 EF + $100 Stall Fee* + $20 Office Charge**
3. Team Roping Heading: $310 EF + $100 Stall Fee* + $20 Office Charge**
4. Team Roping Heeling: $310 EF + $100 Stall Fee* + $20 Office Charge**
* Shavings not included. They are available on site. No outside shavings permitted.
** All World Finals Contestants: there is a $20 office charge for entering your first World Finals
event and a $10 charge for the 2nd/3rd/4th events entered
C. Payoff
1. WPRA Rulebook payoff scale used. NOTE: The payoff amount is 100% of the added $ and 75% of
entry fees going into the purse.
D. Entry Process
UPDATED - 8/25/2010
1. We will have 2 options available for entry starting September 1, 2010. You will be able to enter online directly from the WPRA Site or by calling the WPRA Office. Entries open September 1, 2010 and entries close September 17, 2010.
World Finals and 4 D Entries Open Thursday, 9/2/10 at 9:30 AM MT... Enter Online or by Phone
World Finals entries and 4 D entries will open beginning Thursday, 9/2/2010 through Friday 9/17/2010.
Phone entries will be taken Monday through Friday, from 9:30 AM- 4:30 PM MT by calling the WPRA office at 719-447-4627. (This week phone entries will start on Thursday, 9/2/2010.)
Online entries will be taken 24/7 from 9:30 AM MT on Thursday, 9/2/2010 thru 9:00 PM MT on Friday 9/17/2010. The link will be available right here on Thursday.
WPRA Members: If you enter online, you will be required to supply your WPRA membership number. At that point, you may enter the WPRA World Finals events and the 4 D jackpots. Entry for the Roping jackpots will not be online but will be taken on site.
Non-WPRA Members: You are welcome to enter the 4 D jackpots online or by phone. When entering online, you may choose to enter a co-approval association's card # or scroll right down to the 4 D jackpot entry area. If you have any questions, please call the WPRA office at 719-447-4627.
E. Payment Information
UPDATED
1. Entry fees, office charges and stall charges must be paid when you enter. You may enter
roping jackpots at the World Finals. There will not be any late charges for the roping jackpots.
F. Release/Turn Out
1. There are no refunds of any kind. No releases or turn outs for the World Finals events.
G. Contestants Requirements
1. There is 1 MANDATORY Contestant Meeting.
• Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 7:00-7:30 AM at the Rodeo Arena to receive back #s,
special instructions, etc. These meetings are important; if you do not attend there will
be a $50 fine.
• You will be responsible for knowing and complying with instructions/information presented
at Contestant Meeting.
2. Contestants will be required to take Victory Laps, sign autographs, etc.
3. World Champions and Event Leaders must attend VIP meet and greet, as posted at the Secretary’s
Office.
4. Contestants must be present after the round on Saturday, October 16, 2010 to receive their World
Finals Average awards and Sunday, October 17, 2010 to receive their 2010 World Standings awards.
Contestants must be present at the World FInals to receive their circuit buckles as well. If not present
the awards are forfeited and go to the next person in order. Dress code required.
5. Contestants will be allowed one (1) cattle pusher, and one (1) assistant in roping box (If needed).
Contestant is responsible for the behavior and appearance of their pusher and/or assistant. All
pushers/assistants must be in WPRA dress code at all times while in arena and in chute. Pusher
and assistant must be in chute and box when contestant is called.
6. When you are called you must be ready. There are 3 calls after which you will be disqualified.
Pushers and assistants must leave the arena immediately after contestant performs.
Pusher/assistant is bound by all WPRA rules of conduct and must follow instructions from arena
II. 2010 WPRA WORLD FINALS FORMAT CONTESTANT QUALIFICATIONS
A. All 2010 and 2011 WPRA card/Roping card/permit members in good standing will be eligible to
compete at the 2010 Finals. 2010 WPRA card/Roping card/Permit money won will count toward
2010 year end standings. 2011 members money won will not count toward 2010 or 2011 year end
standings but they may compete for Finals awards. Only 2010 members are eligible for year end All
Around Cowgirl.
III. 2010 WPRA WORLD FINALS FORMAT GO-ROUNDS
A. There will be 4 rounds
B. Round one will be held Thursday, October 14 not before 8 AM in the Roping Arena. Refer to
schedule for order of events. Round one will be drawn bottom to top based on season earnings coming in. For Team Ropers it is based on the Headers $ won as of September 30,
2010. If you do not have money won your order will be randomly drawn among others with no
money won and placed at the bottom of the order.
C. Round two will be held Thursday, October 14 in the Roping Arena. Refer to schedule for the
order of events. Round two will be drawn in reverse order of round 1.
D. Round three will be held Friday, October 15 not before 2 PM, in the Roping Arena. Round three
will be run in the order as Round one.
E. Round four will be held Saturday, October 16 not before 2:00 PM, in the Roping Arena. Round
four will be slowest to fastest based on the first three rounds.
A. ADDITIONAL BREAKAWAY ROPING GROUND RULES:
1. Breakaway contestants will be required to use colored string provided by Breakaway Director.
B. ADDITIONAL TEAM ROPING GROUND RULES:
1. Team Ropers are allowed to switch ends.
C. ARENA PRIORITY
1. If a contestant is scheduled to compete in both the Roping Arena and the Amy Countryman Barrel
Arena in separate competitions at the same time, the Amy Countryman Barrel arena will take
precedent and every effort will be made to move contestants in the Roping Arena. It is contestants
responsibility to notify WPRA World Finals staff of conflict so arrangements can be made.
D. WPRA Rule Book Knowledge
1. Contestants are responsible for having knowledge of applicable WPRA rules, and procedures in the
event entered. These Ground Rules supersede any other rule contained in the WPRA RULEBOOK.
E. Health Certificates & Coggins Health Certificates & Coggins
1. All contestants (both in and out of state) are required to have current Coggins and Health
Certificates. Contestants without a current Coggins and Health Certificate will be turned away.
2. Your are REQUIRED to bring your current Coggins and Health Certificate will to the office when
checking in.
F. Your Financial Responsibilities
1. All bills associated with the WPRA World Finals must be settled with the WPRA Accountant (who will be at the Finals) before you leave the Lancaster event Center. Failure to settle your bills will result in a $50
service charge.
G. WPRA World Titles
1. World Titles, WPRA All Around Cowgirl Title and Rookie Titles will be awarded to the contestant who
has won the most money in their category throughout the year and at the Finals event combined.
Circuit Titles will be named based on the contestant in each circuit who has won the most money by the
point cut-off date in their respective event which is being established as September 30, 2010.
