Walker and duPerier Cashing in at Wrangler Champions Challenge Events

2012 WPRA World Champion Mary Walker and No. 2 ranked barrel racer Callie duPerier have been adding to their 2015 season earnings at the Wrangler Champions Challenge events presented by Justin Boots as they race to the end of the regular season.

Walker, of Ennis, Texas, captured the win at Kennewick, Wash., on August 25 in a time of 17.47 seconds. She added $5,440 to her earnings and is currently ranked fourth in the WPRA ProRodeo standings. She edged Nancy Hunter for the title. Hunter raced around the cloverleaf pattern in 17.51 seconds with duPerier close behind at 17.52 seconds. Carley Richardson and Sarah Rose McDonald rounded out the top five with times of 17.70 seconds and 17.86, respectively.

The Wrangler Champions Challenge then made the trek to the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo for the first time on September 2, where duPerier raced to the title in a time of 17.10 seconds and a payday totaling $5,440. Hunter, once again was second in a time of 17.32 seconds with four-time WPRA Champion Sherry Cervi third with a 17.60-second run. Michele McLeod, who is trying to hold her place inside the top 15 added $2,080 finishing fourth in a time of 17.63. Britany Diaz landed in the final paying hole with a 17.77.

The Wrangler Champions Challenge for the 2015 season will conclude on Sept. 26 in Omaha, Neb.
