Western Region Event Rescheduling Notice
The WPRA Wilderness Circuit Director, Julie Herman and Roping Director, Lynn Smith have worked hard over the last few months to help organize a pilot opportunity for WPRA members called the Western Region Barrels & Breakaway. Similar to the WPRA World Finals in Waco, TX, the Western Region event in Salina, UT would allow members to jump start their 2024 season in the Pro Rodeo Barrel and Breakaway World standings as well as Wilderness Circuit standings. The objective would be to learn how to successfully put on a smaller scaled opportunity similar to the World Finals that eventually be replicated in other circuits.
It is always a challenge to schedule an event of this magnitude in the latter part of the year as it’s important to take other events into consideration such as Circuit Finals as well as other association or producer events . With this in mind, the Western Region team has made the tough decision to reschedule the October 20-22, 2023 event to a later date. The Western Region team as well as their partners at the Sevier County Travel Council are looking into a few other date options to ensure a great success. As soon as a decision is made on the new date an announcement will be made.
Meanwhile, to those athletes that may have already entered, refunds will be issued by October 20.
We are very excited to continue to work on this unique event and hope to see you all in Salina, UT!
As a reminder, the Western Region Barrels & Breakaway will offer:
- WPRA Card race
- WPRA Permit race
- WPRA Breakaway
- Barrel and breakaway jackpots
